Synopsis

I watched this at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival
Often, I don’t see films from Peru because Peruvian cinema is quite rare. As one of the few Peruvian films I’ve seen, this is pretty good.
Throughout, the camerawork is pretty good alongside the production designs, set design, and presentation used throughout
Filmmaker Klaudia Reynicke definitely makes an interesting and personal observation of the family dynamic between father and daughters and the dynamic was well executed with good performances, solid direction, and some very good moments of dialogue. The narrative is simple and while it is predictable and slightly corny, the emotional core, direction and good performances help keep the story consistently interesting.
Overall, it’s a good, warm and sweet film
Including an interesting look at Peru’s political turmoil and the dynamic relationships between father and children.
