Synopsis
Decades after their 1984 All Valley Karate tournament match, a middle-aged Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence find themselves as martial arts rivals once again. The team behind Cobra Kai searched the studio vaults and found a ton of never-before-seen clips that they were able to work into the show via flashbacks. One of them is of Zabka’s real mother, who was shown on the network from multiple angles until 2018.
This means that The Next Karate Kid changed his name, while Cobra Kai kept his previous one
Many believe that Miyagi & His Name on His Tombstone is a persistent mistake, in The Karate Kid 4 (1994) he is named Keisuke, but it was actually shown on a sign held by Chozen in The Karate Kid 2 (1986), as Nariyoshi for him before. However, another interesting fact is that the name given in The Karate Kid Part II is not the original name. Miyagi.

In The Karate Kid (1984), Miyagi’s name, Hideo, is briefly seen on the dog tags attached to the keys to the 1948 Ford given to Daniel for his birthday. Featuring The Tonight Show Jimmy Fallon Starring: Anthony Mackie/Ralph Macchio/Kiry Shabazz (2018) I remember watching the Karate Kid movies as a kid. It successfully captures the old “feel” of the movies while adding a new and complex storyline.
