Synopsis

In the midst of an international crisis, career diplomat Kate Wyler lands in a high-profile job she’s not suited for, with tectonic effects on her marriage and political future. Producers convinced both the American and British governments to allow them to use real-life locations as filming locations for the series, including the fledgling American Embassy (in Nine Elms), which opened in 2018.

The only unavailable location was Winfield House, the actual residence of the American ambassador. Although it is accurately described as occupying the largest residential plot (11 acres) in London next to Buckingham Palace, producers used a country house outside the city for filming purposes.

I’m so glad I did because it was great

I have to admit I wasn’t planning on watching The Diplomat but after hearing so many good things about it and reading all the great reviews I thought I’d give it a chance. I’m actually surprised at how much I enjoyed it.

I was hooked from the first episode

Although Keri Russell was great in The Americans I thought it was more the writing than her acting so I wasn’t sure if she and Rufus Sewell could carry a show as leads but they certainly do, they’re both fantastic here. The chemistry between the two is what makes this show so good.

I could definitely see this show winning some awards
