Synopsis
After the events of Batman (2022), Oz Cobb, aka The Penguin, takes over the reins of Gotham’s criminal underworld. From melting makeup to filming in low temperatures, Colin Farrell and Kristin Miliotti talk about how they got into character during the production of The Penguin. Colin Farrell fought hard to get his version of The Penguin to smoke tobacco in Batman (2022), but failed.
I’ve never seen Farrell so invested in a character
The DC Studios logo is located in a rainy alley in Gotham. An umbrella falls and the logo changes to the Warner Bros logo that appeared in Graham Norton’s The Guests: Lady Gaga/Demi Moore/Colin Farrell/Richard Ayoade/Jack Savoretti (2024). So, the first episode is done and it was great.
This is a New York gangster, a smart guy
I mean, yeah, he’s wearing a fat suit, but you’d never know it. His attitude, body language, voice make you immerse yourself in the character and see only Penguin. It has nothing to do with the other live TV penguins, Burgess Meredith or Robin Lord Taylor.
Penguin is a middleman in a mafia organization
It’s a Scorsese gangster, but without the flowery language. The plot is simple, similar to Lord Taylor Penguin from CW’s Gotham. So far, he’s served his time by slowly infiltrating the mafia, and after the Riddler blows up the city wall and his boss dies in this movie, he sees an opportunity to rise up the ranks of the world.
Great fun and highly recommended
