Synopsis
On the island of haves and have-nots, teenager John B asks his three best friends to search for a legendary treasure linked to his father’s disappearance. Chase Stokes, Madelyn Cline and their “OBX”; the cast quiz each other on the best lines from their popular Netflix series. Filming took place in Charleston, South Carolina; it was originally supposed to be filmed in Wilmington, North Carolina.
So what’s not to like!?
After watching all 3 seasons of Outer Banks, I can’t deny that I was entertained and entertained: all episodes are full of adventures, treasure hunts and villain chases, all in exotic locations and with a few romantic twists. among the young and attractive cast. Well, I have some reservations too.
And of course silly nicknames like JJ and Pope and John B (what’s the B for anyway?)
All events are extremely far-fetched and unrealistic: such as how this group of teenage friends manage to escape again and again right in front of the police or heavily armed criminals, often in the midst of a hail of bullets, but always unscathed; or how they solve mysterious mysteries (such as treasures hidden for ages or the location of the legendary El Dorado) with a flick of the wrist, or through unfortunate coincidences. The young actors are supposed to illustrate the importance of true friendship, but their juvenile behavior gradually gets on your nerves, with all the frat and flipping of baseball caps that can’t be avoided. They all look good, but the acting is adequate, with only Drew Starkey standing out as the troubled Rafe and Rudy Pankow being quite convincing as the resourceful JJ with ADHD.
Actually, it’s more of a series for teenagers
, barely transcends the realms of The Hardy Boys or Nancy Drew. Maybe, as a reasonably mature person, I shouldn’t be watching it at all, but hey, sometimes it’s nice to go with the flow easily and comfortably without overthinking it. The very last scene of season 3 set the stage for the next season, I bet I won’t be able to resist it.
